04/08/2021 • On March 31st, 2021, a series of discussions of the representatives of the US Embassy in Prague and participants of level 2 and level 3 English language at the Language Centre took place. Similar debates of the US Embassy in Prague representatives with Language Centre students have been organized since 2019, following the visit of Mr. Stephen King, the US Ambassador in the Czech Republic to the University of Defence in late 2018.
The debates held on the last day of March 2021 were attended by the cultural attaché Mr. Erik Black in person, due to the pandemic situation via MS Teams videoconference. Discussions with the level 3 course participants were aimed at current news in the world as well as in the Czech Republic. Besides civilian topics, military issues were discussed as well. Discussions with the level 2 course participants focused on comparison of living in the USA and the Czech Republic. Participants had a chance to ask questions not just in relation to the topics outlined above. Discussions were held in a very friendly and informal atmosphere. The feedback from the participants of the meeting with this honored guest was very positive.
I would like to thank the US Embassy in Prague and namely Mr. Erik Black for their long term support and cooperation. Let us hope that the discussions will not only help our language courses participants to succeed in passing their STANAG 6001 language examination but also enrich their cultural and linguistic awareness.
