10/29/2020 • This year coronavirus pandemics considerably modified the celebrations of Czechoslovak state foundation. The ceremony held on 29 October took an intimate mode skipping the official speeches or national anthem.
While the traditional place for such a ceremony, around the first president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk statue in Komenskeho Namesti Square in Brno, had been the meeting point for the representatives of regional and municipal authorities, universities and important community institutions, their appearance there in this year was timed so that they do not meet to follow thus the anti-epidemic measures.
Short before midday, the representatives for the Brno based universities arrived to the statue. Right after eleven o’clock, colonel Libor Kutej as the University of Defence vice-rector for external relational and internationalisation came to salute the memory of the first Czechoslovak president on behalf of the entire school. Two of the only one military university’s students laid down a wreath at the statues foot followed by colonel’s military tribute.
