• On 22 July 2020, Security and Military Strategic Studies Centre’s representatives received the 2020 National Security Council’s Award in the main category, presented by the Prime Minister Andrej Babis. The ceremony took place in Liechtenstein Palace in Prague.
National Security Council awards teams and/or individuals in main and in student categories for significant contributions to Czech national defence policy. It made the decision upon this year awards in the resolution dated 8 June. Defence and Strategy Journal published by the Centre of Security and Military Strategic Studies as an element under the University of Defence got the appreciation for its proactive attitude practiced in the security community focused on publications dedicated to the development of science, research and education in defence and security issues. Present to the awarding ceremony were Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar and other Council members, Chief of General Staff and his first deputy, directors of intelligence services, leading personalities of Fire Rescue Corps, National Cyber and Information Security Agency, representatives of ministries of the Interior, Defence and of Foreign Affairs and other important national and security personalities.
National Security Council Award of 2020 is the third one given to the University of Defence. Award of 2018 went to the Centre of Security and Military Strategic Studies as it was for the considerable contribution to the development of science, research and education in military, defence and security studies and for major expert, publication and popularization activities. Only one year before the award was given to Czech Military Review editorial staff, while the journal was issued again by the Centre.
