20/02/2020 • The list of personalities who have delivered a lecture to the audience of General Staff Course attendees and other staff of the University of Defence encompassed the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Czech Republic, H.E. Roland Galharague. He visited the university on 18 February 2020 in the company of French Defence Attaché lieutenant colonel Daniel Kopecky.
Before the lecture, the French Ambassador had a meeting with the University top management. First he was briefed of the university and then discussed with them cooperation in the field of military education. Among other issues, the discussion mentioned the courses of jungle warfare held annually in French Guyana and regularly attended by Czech cadets.
For the afternoon lecture, the audience included the attendees of the General Staff Course held by the University of Defence and guaranteed by its Centre for Security and Military Strategic Studies together with other university staff interested in the topic. His Excellency offered his view of the contemporary security situation. He gave evidence of the poor condition using several examples including international terrorism, and followed by proposing ways out. He mentioned the answer should strengthen alliance bonds but cannot avoid investment. “If we do not invest in defence, we cannot control our fate,” said Roland Galharague.
The lecture given by French ambassador resumed the lecture series for the military university presented by former Chief of General Staff and NATO Military Committee Chairman retired general Petr Pavel or Multinational Division North East deputy commander brigadier Karel Rehka in the previous week.
