Military and Academic Graduation Ceremonies in 2013

16/7/2013 • Military parade of the new University of Defence graduates on the occasion of their graduation ceremony shall take place in the University barracks in Sumavska Street in Brno on Friday, 26 July 2013 at 8.30 AM. Graduation ceremony is one of the most significant events held by the military university at the end of every academic year. Representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Czech Republic and other leading persons of the defence and civilian guests will be present.

Deputy Minister of Defence Lenka Ptáčková Melicharová and Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Petr Pavel will witness the ceremony concluding university studies for 195 graduates. The invitations were also accepted by Ministry of Defence departments and offices and other important representatives of defence, foreign military universities, defence attachés to the Czech Republic, government and local administrations and civil partner associations' delegations. University of Defence fresh graduates’ families shall traditionally be in the audience.

Seven outstanding graduates shall receive a present given by the Czech Minister of Defence and another nine shall be awarded by the University of Defence rector. The best student in army specialisations shall be awarded with the price dedicated by the Spanish Army Chief of General Staff and another exceptional student shall receive the award dedicated by the 4 rapid response brigade commander.

The official parade shall be crowned, at approximately 0915 AM with two flights of two air formations consisting two JAS-39 Gripen tactical fighters of Caslav base.

Later that day, fifteen graduates from the military pilot field of study and ten from air traffic controller field shall receive the pilot or controller badge, respectively, in the Brno Technical Museum. The badges shall be presented by Czech Air Force Commander colonel Libor Štefánik.

The significant day for University of Defence graduates from both military and civilian studies shall continue in the academic part with diploma ceremonies in the theatre building in Malinovskeho namesti square in Brno. The Faculty of Economics and Management will hold two ceremonies from 11.00 AM to 12.30 AM and from 13.00 PM to 14.30 followed by two Faculty of Military Technology ceremonies at 15.00 – 16.30 and at 17.00 – 18.30. The total number of graduates from all types and modes of study should be 430.
